- United States Constitution Day is on Sunday, September 17th. We read a book called “We the Kids, The Preamble to the Constitution of the United States” by David Catrow and had a good discussion about our country’s Constitution.
*Special Events:
- Open House: Thank you to all of the families who were able to attend our Open House/Curriculum Night on Wednesday evening. It was so nice to have the opportunity to meet and share first grade curriculum information with you. I really appreciate your time, support, and willingness to work as a team. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year together in first grade!
- School Safety Evacuation Drills: We successfully completed a bus evacuation drill on Thursday morning and a building evacuation drill on Friday morning this week.
*Reminders and Upcoming Events:
- Ice Cream Day: Students will have their first opportunity to purchase an ice cream/frozen treat next Wednesday, September 20th during lunch for $3.00.
*Students who are already signed up and have paid for ice cream will have their names on the PTO's ice cream list.
- No School/Rosh Hashanah: We do not have school next Thursday, September 21st.
- Library Books: School library books are due by next Friday, September 22nd.
- Early Release: Students will be dismissed at 1:00 on Friday, October 6th.
*Students will be eating their fruit or vegetable snacks and lunches at school.
- No School/Fall Break: We do not have school on Monday, October 9th.
- No School/Teacher Institute Day: Students do not have school on Tuesday, October 10th for Teacher Institute Day.
- NSSD 112 Education Foundation 14th Annual 5K Fun(d) Run and Family Walk: This amazing community event will be held on Saturday, October 14th at Ravinia Festival in Highland Park at 8:00 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the Scholarship Fund for the students in our school district.
- Ice Cream Day: Students will have the opportunity to purchase an ice cream/frozen treat on Wednesday, October 18th during lunch for $3.00.

- Indian Trail PTO Meeting: Our next PTO meeting will be held on Monday, October 23rd at 7:00 p.m. in our school library.
