*Reminders and Upcoming Events:
- Favorite Book for Monday's Art Class: Next Monday, October 19th Ms. Lee needs your child to bring a favorite book from home to use during art class. Books will be used to help with an art activity and will be sent back home that same day.
- Ice Cream Day: Students will have the opportunity to purchase an ice cream/frozen treat next Wednesday, October 21st during lunch for $2.00.
- Library Books: Library books are due by next Friday, October 23rd.
- Indian Trail Fall Coat and Boot Drive: Families are encouraged to donate new and gently-used, clean, warm coats and boots now through Wednesday, October 28th to help support our local families in need. Donations will be collected near our front office. Please contact Mrs. Harwood by email with any questions at [email protected]. Thanks for your help and support!
- Halloween Celebrations/Save the Date: We will be celebrating Halloween on Friday, October 30th. Plans for the afternoon parade and classroom parties will be finalized and shared with families soon. Please send your child to school with his/her Halloween costume in a bag that day, so we can change in the afternoon. Students’ costumes should be safely designed and age appropriate to allow for adequate vision, mobility, and warmth. Masks cannot be worn. *NO TOY WEAPONS of any type will be allowed at school.
- DAILY Reading Homework: Enjoy listening to your child read out loud from his/her reading homework book at his/her independent reading level each day to practice reinforcing his/her reading strategies and skills. *Please ask your child questions about the book and discuss what your child is reading to help strengthen his/her reading comprehension skills.
- Daily News Writing Journal: Please remember to check, read, discuss, and initial your child’s completed Daily News Journal entry each day.
- District Websites Homework: Raz-Kids Reading and XtraMath websites should be accessed and practiced WEEKLY as part of your first grader's responsible homework routine. Student reports are sent to teachers weekly. Thank you for your continued help and support at home!
NOVEMBER:
- No School/Veterans’ Day: We do not have school on Wednesday, November 11th in honor of Veterans’ Day.
- Ice Cream Day: Students will have the opportunity to purchase an ice cream/frozen treat on Wednesday, November 18th during lunch for $2.00.
- No School/Parent-Teacher Conferences: There will be no school on Monday, November 23rd and Tuesday, November 24th for Parent-Teacher Conferences.
– No School/Thanksgiving Break: There will also be no school on Wednesday, November 25th, Thursday, November 26th, and Friday, November 27th for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
DECEMBER:
- Early Release: Students will be dismissed at 1:00 on Friday, December 4th. Students will still be having their healthy fruit or vegetable snacks in the morning and will be eating their lunches at school.
- Ice Cream Day: Students will have the opportunity to purchase an ice cream/frozen treat on Wednesday, December 16th during lunch for $2.00.
- Winter Break: Winter break will begin after school on Friday, December 18th. School will resume on Monday, January 4th.
