- iRead for 112 Foundation/1V HOMEWORK: Please record all of the minutes read at home beginning last Saturday, January 9th through Sunday, January 31st. *Completed forms with parent signatures are due by Thursday, February 4th. Thank you so much for your continued support and participation!
**Reading and recording minutes is a school wide HOMEWORK assignment. Minutes spent reading homework books, library books, Raz-Kids books, books at home, magazines, newspapers, etc. can all be included on the recording form.
***Donations are much appreciated and are optional.
****Please let me know if your child needs another recording form.
- Word Study Word Sorts: Today your child has his/her NEW word study word sort for next week in his/her blue Home Folder since we do not have school on Monday. This will give him/her the opportunity to practice working with his/her new words before next week. The next assessment will be Friday, January 22nd.
- No School: We do not have school in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday next Monday, January 18th.
- Ice Cream Day: Students will have the opportunity to purchase an ice cream/frozen treat next Wednesday, January 20th during lunch for $2.00.
- Library Books: School library books are due by next Friday, January 22nd.
- Math Centers: We are looking forward to doing some more fun math activities during Math Centers next Friday, January 22nd from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. in the morning with help from Mrs. Bronstein, Mrs. Leite, and Mrs. Siegal.
- Ice Skating Party: Our PTO will be hosting Indian Trail’s annual Ice Skating Party next Friday, January 22nd at Centennial Ice Arena in Highland Park from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- District Workshop: The first grade teachers will be attending another District 112 First Grade Common Core Curriculum Workshop for Math in the morning on Thursday, January 28th. There will be a substitute teacher in our classroom that morning. Please remind your child to do his/her best by being respectful, responsible, and safe. Thank you for your continued help and support!
FEBRUARY:
- Valentine Cards: We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on Friday, February 12th. Students are welcome to bring valentines to school for all 18 classmates. Please do not include any sugary treats or goody bags with your child's valentines, because a sweet treat will be provided in our classroom. Thank you for continued support and understanding!
- Early Release: Students will be dismissed early on Friday, February 12th at 1:00. Students will be eating their fruit or vegetable snacks and lunches at school.
- No School/Presidents’ Day: We do not have school on Monday, February 15th in honor of Presidents’ Day.
- Ice Cream Day: Students will have the opportunity to purchase an ice cream/frozen treat on Wednesday, February 17th during lunch for $2.00.
