Dear Families,
Welcome to first grade at Indian Trail School! I am very excited about meeting my new incoming first grade students and their families. First grade is an amazing school year where children expand their knowledge and experience the love of learning, while improving their strategies and skills. They not only grow academically and personally as individuals, but they become self motivated, lifelong learners as well!
I hope that everyone is enjoying their last days of summer break. I am looking forward to talking with my new students about their fun-filled summer adventures! The 2017-2018 school year begins next Wednesday, August 23rd at 8:40 a.m. in the morning. I will meet our class outside on the blacktop near the playground on our class line labeled with our classroom number 108. Students will be dismissed early that day at 1:40 p.m. in the afternoon. Our first full day of school will be the next day, Thursday, August 24th, with our regular 3:17 p.m. dismissal time.
Please be sure to send a healthy fruit or vegetable snack, lunch, and a water bottle labeled with your child’s name on it to school every day, beginning next Wednesday. Your child should also bring his/her school supplies to school with him/her next Wednesday, our first school day. If you ordered supplies from our school PTO, I will already have them in our classroom. Your child will need to wear or bring gym shoes every school day. A pair of gym shoes may be kept at school. An art smock needs to be brought in and kept at school for art class on Wednesdays as well.
Communication is so important to help ensure that your child will have a successful, positive experience in first grade. Please feel free to contact me by email, phone, or sending a note to school inside your child's Home folder in his/her backpack with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your help and support. I am really looking forward to working together this school year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Heidi VanderVere
