- Buddy Activity: We were very excited to meet our Buddies in Mrs. Sidell's 3rd grade class on Thursday morning! Reading festive Halloween books together was great!
- Halloween Safety Talk: Officer Hyndman from the Highland Park Police Department came to our school today, during recess, and talked with the students about Halloween safety, Stranger Danger, and making good, responsible choices.
- Halloween Parade and Celebration: We hope families and friends enjoyed viewing our creative Halloween costumes during our annual Indian Trail Halloween parade! We would like to thank our wonderful room parents, Ms. Jamieson and Mrs. Snodgrass for organizing, planning, and providing us with such an awesome Halloween party! We would also like to thank our great parent volunteers, including Mrs. Drucker, Mrs. Pease, and Mr. Leite, for coming and helping with our classroom celebration. The pumpkin decorating, craft activity was really fun to create. The Halloween games were thrilling too! We liked eating the yummy treats as well!
*Reminders and Upcoming Events:
- Fall Daylight Saving Time: Please remember to set your clocks BACK one hour tomorrow night, Saturday, October 31st, before you go to bed.
- November Fall Conference Date & Time Preference Form: Next Monday, November 2nd, our entire school will be sending home parent preference forms to be completed with your top three choices of date and time for your parent-teacher conference. Forms need to be returned by next Wednesday, November 4th. Then our staff can collaborate, coordinating schedules for Fall conferences for all of our families.
- Math Centers Volunteer Forms: Please complete and return the bright pink Math Centers' volunteer form by next Tuesday, November 3rd if you have not already returned it. Thank you!
- District Workshop: The first grade teachers will be attending another half day District 112 First Grade Common Core Math Curriculum Workshop next Tuesday, November 3rd during the morning. Please remind your child to do his/her best and help the substitute teacher by being respectful, responsible, and safe. Thank you!
- Library Books: School library books are due next Friday, November 6th.
- Box-Tops: Please send Box-Tops to school with your child to help our PTO earn additional funds. Each Box-Top is worth ten cents. The current PTO Box-Top classroom collection ends next Friday, November 6th.
- Indian Trail PTO Book Fair at Barnes & Noble: Families are invited to celebrate literacy, support our PTO, and attend the Indian Trail Book Fair on Sunday, November 8th between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble book store in Deerfield.
- No School/Veterans’ Day: We do not have school on Wednesday, November 11th in honor of Veterans’ Day.
- Ice Cream Day: Students will have the opportunity to purchase an ice cream/frozen treat on Wednesday, November 18th during lunch for $2.00.
- No School/Parent-Teacher Conferences: There will be no school on Monday, November 23rd and Tuesday, November 24th for Parent-Teacher Conferences.
– No School/Thanksgiving Break: There will also be no school on Wednesday, November 25th, Thursday, November 26th, and Friday, November 27th for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
DECEMBER
- Early Release: Students will be dismissed at 1:00 on Friday, December 4th. Students will still be having their healthy fruit or vegetable snacks in the morning and will be eating their lunches at school.
- Ice Cream Day: Students will have the opportunity to purchase an ice cream/frozen treat on Wednesday, December 16th during lunch for $2.00.
- Winter Break: Winter break will begin after school on Friday, December 18th. School will resume on Monday, January 4th.
